When can I use the space?
During open studio hours.
Does it cost anything to use the space?
No! All materials are free, and are available while supplies last.
Where do materials come from?
The makerspace has a small budget provided by the city of Waukesha that is used to purchase consumables like Perler beads, glue, Crayons, etc. We also accept most craft supply donations from the public.
Can I donate to the space?
Yes! Please bring in any gently used craft supplies or tools and the makerspace staff will decide if they can be used in the space.
Do you have a list of supplies that you need?
Yes, please follow this link for our Amazon wish list or use your phone to scan the QR code on the right side of the page, below the hours listing.
Is there an age restriction in the space?
The makerspace is open to all ages. Any maker that is younger than 11 years old must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. If there is an emergency where the parent or guardian needs to leave the room, please consult with the makerspace staff before doing so.
How do I use the makerspace equipment?
There is at least one makerspace staff person in the room at all times to answer any questions about how to use the equipment. Makers must attend training classes before using the 3D printers, the Glowforge and the Cricut Maker. The schedules for the classes are available on the Waukesha Public Library website. You can find them by clicking on the Event Calendar button, typing in Studio 321 in the Keyword Search field and clicking Apply. Or you can follow this link: Event Calendar
How do I make reservations to use the makerspace equipment?

Please contact the Studio 321 Supervisor, Amy Welch, via email at [email protected] or call 262-524-3682 for details on volunteering.
If I've used a piece of equipment before at another makerspace, school or home, can I use it in Studio 321 without getting trained?
No. All makers must be trained by the makerspace staff in the library where the equipment is being used. Training from another library or experience using the equipment at another location (work, school, etc.) does not take the place of training here.
How much do the (3D printer, Glowforge, Cricut) training classes cost?
Nothing, they are a free service provided by the Waukesha Public Library!
How old do you have to be to participate in the training classes?
Anyone 11 years old or older can take the classes by themselves, anyone under 11 must have an adult take the class with them. When registering for a class, please register each person individually. In order to make sure everyone in the class has time to complete their first project, we need to have an accurate number of participants. Names added to the notes field of another person's registration entry are not considered registered. Each person must be registered to attend and participate in the class.
