Joel Pfeiffer

Waukesha County mixed media artist Joel Pfeiffer has always focused on connecting people with art. During his thirty one years as an art educator (26 years at Arrowhead High School in Hartland), Joel also directed Clay Stomps where groups arm in arm mixed tons of clay with their feet. The groups then created clay murals for their communities. These clay stomps and murals were created locally and internationally. The Soviet-American Clay Stomp mural is displayed at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. The World Clay Stomp mural is located at The Prairie Peace Park outside Lincoln, Nebraska.

Joel graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in art education and holds a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in ceramics from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Joel has always had a passion for art and continues to challenge himself with each piece he creates. Joel’s art is on display in schools, libraries, art centers, and corporations.

The “Crown Jewel” sculpture was specifically designed for the Waukesha Public Library. Joel feels the library is the crown jewel of the community. It is constructed with stainless steel and multiple layers of fused colored glass. As patrons exit through the revolving door, they look up and experience the dance between color and light… a continual interaction between people and art.

Crown Jewel Things are Looking Up was acquired in 2023 and is located above the rotating door in the atrium.
