Barbara Reinhart
Barbara Reinhart is Emerita Professor of Art at the University of Milwaukee-Waukesha where she has taught various courses in the Art Department since 1996. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1988 and her BA in 1976 from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
Her paintings and figurative clay sculptures have been shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout the country and included in the book, “500 Figures in Clay.”
Reinhart’s piece is an oil painting on canvas completed in 2011. It combines the observed and the invented, depicting five figures gathered around a kitchen table. The open-ended narrative seeks to invite the viewer to participate in making connections between the figures. The process of seeing may be combined with memory, recognition and reconsideration of the familiar as the visual relationships are explored.
