Check out Material

The Waukesha Public Library is committed to serving the intellectual, cultural and artistic needs of all citizens. In order to achieve this goal, it provides a balanced collection of over 400,000 items that includes print material, audio-visual material, e-media (including digital books and digital audiobooks), a permanent collection of original art from local artists, and free, high- speed access to the Internet. In particular, the Library has developed digital collections that surpass the enhanced collection standard as required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). The Library annually circulates over one million items to over 50,000 registered patrons, making it one of the most heavily used single site libraries in Wisconsin.

In addition to its selection of books, periodicals, audiobooks, etc., the Library also has a limited selection of equipment available for checkout. The equipment is kept at the Special Services Desk and includes:

  • WiFi Hotspots
  • Wheelchair
  • Calculators
  • Portable PlayAway speakers (a compact set of speakers used to broadcast PlayAway titles)
  • Wireless FM transmitter (a simple way to listen to PlayAway titles on the car radio)
  • Watt Meters (an electricity monitor that displays the monetary value of electricity usage for an appliance)
