Waukesha Public Library one of 75 organizations nationwide to receive a Big Read Grant!
Waukesha to read and celebrate A Wizard of Earthsea by
Ursula K. Le Guin during Waukesha Reads – The Big Read
June 2, 2015 – Waukesha Public Library is a recipient of a grant of $13,800 to host The Big Read in Waukesha. A program of the National Endowment for the Arts, The Big Read broadens our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. This initiative offers grants to support innovative community reading programs designed around a single book. Waukesha Public Library is one of 75 nonprofit organizations to receive a grant to host a Big Read project between September 2015 and June 2016.
The Big Read in Waukesha will focus on A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin. Activities will take place September 25 – November 8, 2015. A Wizard of Earthsea is a classic coming-of-age novel. Originally published as a young-adult fantasy novel in 1968, Le Guin’s adventure tale is so imaginatively engaging and psychologically profound it captivates readers of all ages.
Waukesha Public Library is proud to collaborate with more than 40 partners each year to bring this program to our community. Planning for the October Waukesha Reads – The Big Read has already begun. If your organization or business is interested in getting involved in this exciting community-wide event, please contact Karol Kennedy at email@example.com or (262) 524-3746.
